The 2004 La Huella de Adaras, a blend of 60% Tintorera, 30% Monastrell, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, was aged on its lees for 12 months in concrete and steel vats. Purple-colored, it offers up pure aromas of blueberry, blackberry, and black currants. On the palate it is plush, ripe, and sweet with nicely concealed tannins. It has a pure, 30 second finish. Drink this tasty effort over the next 3-4 years. Score: 89. February 2007

Medium red. Powerfully scented nose displays deep blackberry, cassis and kirsch, with brighter floral tannins and sneaky finishing grip and mineral qualities adding lift. Deep and sappy, with sweet dark berry preserve flavors, velvety. This is carrying 15.5% alcohol, by the way, but doesn't seem especially warm. Nov/Dec 2007

Occasion: 어느덧  호주인이 다 되어버린, 상욱 오빠와 저녁을 먹기위해, 햄버거가 맛있다고 이름난, 업타운의 브라이언트 레이트 보울에서 호주산 와인인데다가 이름이 멋져서 한 잔을 주문. (글래스 와인이라서 빈티지 확인 못함) (An almost-Aussie-like Stanley and I went to Bryant Lake Bowl to celebrate his visit and to satisfy his craving for a good American burger. He ordered a couple bottles of local beer and I ordered a glass of this Aussie wine.)

Comment: 부드럽고 편하게 마실 수 있는 맛있는 와인. 무슨 과일인지는 모르겠지만 (나는 아직 와인에서 그 어떤 과일향도 구분해내지 못하므로) 과일향이 (플럼일지도) 풍김. 다른 레드 와인에 비해 뭔가가 빠진듯한 느낌도 들었는데, 그게 뭔지 알 수가 없다. 담배나 흙냄새인가? 아니면 그 어느것도 아닐 수도. 인터넷으로 검색해보니 싼 가격에 비해 높은 평가를 받는, 꽤 인기가 있는 데일리 와인인 듯.  (Soft and tasty daily wine. I smelled some fruits whose names I could not tell with my ability of tasting wine. I definately felt something was missing compared to other kinds of red wine. I don't know what it is. It could be smell of earth or tabacco, or none. No idea. It seemed that it is no secret that this wine is a good value according to many comments and reviews on the internet.)

Gift or Purchase: Gift from Wonsoongi (After we found out that he was one of the recipients of a prestigious fellowship, we decided to celebrate it by purchasing this wine. It's a wonderful way of celebrating a special occasion. When we drink this, we will remember our joy over the news. He also got me a small wine cellar (He should not have said he would be "boojabangee" :-)) This is basically how my journey to the world of wine began.)

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the totally closed 2005 Calon Segur is one of those traditionally made, backstrapping, uncompromising Bordeaux that will last 30-40 or more years. Its dense ruby color with purple nuances is followed by a nose that reluctantly offers up scents of damp earth, wood smoke, black cherries, cassis, and an exotic Asian spice character. The wine is formidably endowed and broodingly tannic, with noticeable acidity and a structured, nearly impenetrable mouthfeel. Nevertheless, it is easy to sense the weight, extract, and richness in this pure, deep wine. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050. Score 92+, May 2008.

This is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon (as ripe and impressive as Madame Gasqueton has ever seen) and 40% Merlot. The Merlot was harvested between September 15-22 and the Cabernet Sauvignon was brought in during the first two weeks of October. The result is a classic Calon-Segur exhibiting a dense purple color, ripe black cherry, cassis, smoke, earth, and new oak characteristics, powerful but sweet tannin, a huge texture, and broad, concentrated flavors. It will undoubtedly close down after bottling. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030+. Score: 94-96, April 2006.

(60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot) Bright ruby. Precise aromas of black cherry, leather and flowers. Then densely packed and a bit tight in the middle. Lively and powerful, if a bit less pliant than the unusually fleshy 2003 was at the same stage. Finishes long, with mounting, dusty tannins. A very solid, chewy wine that should require a good seven or eight years of bottle aging and last for upwards of 20 years. 90-93 points.

Dark-colored, with beautiful aromas of chocolate, spices and violets. Full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish. Fresh and refined. A beauty. This is such a pleasure to taste. Score: 94.June 30, 2006.



Chateau Calon-Segur:
- 1855년 확립된 보르도 공식 품질등급 분류에 따른 3급 샤토. (Classified as Troisièmes Crus Classés (Third Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855) 
라투르와 라피트의 주인이었던 세귀르 후작가의 알렉산더(Nicolas-Alexandre, 1695-1755) 가 내 마음은 세귀르에 있다라고 해서 에티켓이 하트 모양이라는 이야기가 유명함. (Nicolas-Alexandre(1695-1755) who also owned Chateau Latour and Chateau Lafite Rothschild at the time said that his "heart was with Calon". The wine's label today includes a drawing of a heart reflecting his passion for Calon-Segur.)

Consumers should take note as this estate is clearly benefiting from increased attention from the Rothschilds. The 2003 may be the finest Duhart-Milon made ... ever! A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, it boasts a deep ruby/purple hue in addition to a big, sweet perfume of black fruits interwoven with roasted herbs and meat juice offered in a muscular, full-bodied style. Full-bodied, dense, and well-structured, this stunning cuvee is best consumed between 2010-2030. 92 points.

Then broad, fat and rich, with a layered texture and enticing sweetness. Showing its cabernet side today, but this is thoroughly ripe, seamless cabernet. 88-91 points. May 2004

Blackberry with toasted oak and coffee aromas. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long finish. Lovely texture to this wine. Dense and refined. Very tight right now. One of the best I have tasted from this estate. Best after 2009. 20,000 cases made. 92 points. March 2006.
